Seeds of Gratitude

Six months to the day.

I sat outside against the side of the building, weeping with joy and at the same time crushed by heartache. Life was blooming inside. The rollercoaster of emotions surged through my body. It was as if I was standing behind the glass, watching the gift unfold.

Laughter, excitement, and tension permeated the space. Long hours sitting on the bench outside the room, waiting to touch you. To hold you. Knowing that you would bring healing to a piece of my shattered heart. Knowing that every time I looked at you, from then until eternity, I would see God’s grace and favor on our life and shattered hearts.

Ten years, we have had the honor of loving you and watching you grow.

Ten years, we have had the privilege to engage in your life in meaningful ways. 1

Ten years, the Lord has been bringing beauty from our ashes.

Carson Porter, you are the gift we didn’t know we needed. Your kindness and compassion leak Jesus all over those around you. You make us want to be better, to do better. You help us see Jesus a little clearer.

We love watching you grow in your faith. We pray that in a world full of things and distractions - where hearts store up treasures on earth and where pride and selfishness run deep - you would never lose sight of who you are and whose you are.  Created in God’s image and raised up for His glory and honor.  You, grandson, were created for Kingdom things on earth as it is in Heaven.

You are loved more than you will ever know.

Love,

Mimi and B
